Shamrock were engaged by UWA to carry out the UPS upgrade works at the Physics and Reid Library buildings in Crawley Campus.
Each building’s datacentres had different electrical requirements including, but not limited to the following:

Physics building data centre
Replacement of the existing UPS system with 3x new Liebert 120kva units in the physics data centre. Works also included the installation of new switch boards and electrical submains to upgrade the existing systems, creating new power discrimination zones to accommodate the new loading for the switch boards. All these works were all under taken without disruption to the normal operation of the data centre.

Reid library data centre
The Reid Data Centre works involved the installation of a new diesel 350kva generator and auto transfer system, new switch boards and modifications to the main I/O UPS switch board, new submains and sub circuits to accommodate the new loading for the data centre. The continuation of Data Centre operations throughout the upgrade works was of the upmost importance. Shutdown of Data Centre systems or related building services were strictly prohibited.
Shamrock completed all the required works well within expected deadlines and to no disruption to building services.
